体育菠菜大平台’s Own Cassidy Aycock Has Plans to Make the World a Better Place

When University of Nebraska at Kearney senior Cassidy Aycock was growing up on her family’s ranch in Nebraska, she learned to never back down from a challenge. On her family’s ranch, she was “always on the go” because there was “always work to be done.” This work ethic has carried over to her college career.

Cassidy chose to attend 体育菠菜大平台 to be close to her family. She shares how, after touring the campus, she felt that she had found “a place (she) could call home.” As a full-time student who works two jobs while maintaining a balanced social life, she enjoys the challenge of working at 体育菠菜大平台. 

For the past few years, Cassidy has not only worked hard, but she has learned a lot from everyone at the College of Business and Technology. She initially wanted to major in elementary education but quickly “switched over to business.” She is currently pursuing a business administration major with a double minor in accounting and management/marketing. Making this change was a “new learning experience” for Cassidy who explains how her professors helped her understand the actual vision behind the accounting profession. She appreciates how, in her classes, she has learned about “all the different aspects of business.”

As she has spent time in her classes and participating in internships, she explains how she has been driven “to want to make a difference in the world” and to put others before herself. Cassidy has had three internships including experience working in accounting as well as human resources. This past summer, at her internship with a bank, she realized she “couldn’t do it for a career.” When she shared these feelings with Sarah Borchers, who is not only one of Cassidy’s professors but also her advisor, she learned about many other areas to pursue professionally. 

Borchers explained to Cassidy how important internships are due to the “experience-based decisions” they allow students to make. Cassidy shares how grateful she is to Borchers for being so supportive and helping students like her to understand how much they can achieve in their chosen field. 

Sarah Borchers shares that she has truly enjoyed getting to know Cassidy on a personal level. As an advisor and professor at 体育菠菜大平台, Sarah wants all of her students to succeed. One way she has been able to do this with Cassidy is “being able to talk through her life goals and passions” in order to develop solutions to help her “choose a pathway” to “best suit (her) life goals, both professionally and personally.”

Cassidy currently works as a barista for Brewed Awakening as well as an office assistant at the College of Business of Technology where she helps all three departments. With many options available to her thanks to all she has learned as a CBT student, she hopes to pursue work as a financial planner, a 4-H extension educator, or at a nonprofit organization upon graduation. No matter what job she holds, Cassidy wants to “be able to help people.”

She explains that her “plan is to really find a company that fits (her) values” and then narrow down positions until she finds one that fits her strengths. She realizes that people need to prioritize “their own happiness” and do “what they want to do in their life.” She understands that “it’s up to you what you want to do with your life” and plans to follow her own advice.

Growing up on her family’s ranch, Cassidy has “always had that drive to help people” as well as a desire to “listen to people” to learn what they’re going through. As she contemplates her future professional life, she is determined to find a way to help others reach their goals.  

Using her business degree, Cassidy plans to help people know that “they’re not alone” as she helps them find resources to make their lives better. As she helps others “meet their long-term goals,” she believes she can “actually make a difference” in their lives. She wants to “see the reward coming through the smile on people’s faces and not in monetary form.” 

As she considers the fact that her education might one day be used to help single moms and families who are struggling, Cassidy Aycock shares that she has one goal after graduating in August. She desires to help “people every day in everyday situations.” This selfless drive makes her an excellent example of how 体育菠菜大平台 Lopers can change the world for the better.
